Spinal cord injury affects around 250-500,000 people around the world, ever year. The term spinal cord injury refers to damage to the spinal cord resulting from trauma (e.g. a car crash) or from disease (tumours) or degeneration (wear and tear). This spinal cord injury video is aimed and patients and the public who want to understand how why it happens, how we diagnose it, possible treatment options as well as the path to recovery.
This video is a collaboration with the NIHR Global Health Research Group on Neurotrauma (https://neurotrauma.world/). Their overarching mission is to improve global neurotrauma care through a series of projects and activities focussing on various aspects of traumatic brain injury (TBI) care in low and middle income countries (LMICs).
